Igloo Cold Storage, Mississauga, Ontario, recently celebrated its first anniversary as Toronto’s newest cold storage facility for fresh and frozen food.

Senior vice president Frank Sarraino said he and his team have been working with offshore and U.S. shippers as well as local wholesalers and importers to receive product and handle all forward distribution to retail, wholesale and foodservice accounts.

The facility, near Pearson International airport and the Ontario Food Terminal, offers 650,000 cubic feet of refrigerated space with 125 truckloads of storage capacity, he said.

Shipping, receiving docks and production areas are temperature-controlled, and the building is monitored 24/7 to guarantee food safety and security.

The facility also offers customized grading, cross-docking, repacking, bagging and other services.
