Trying to generate consumer and trade interest, Florida’s tomato industry has revamped its website by showing visitors how they can “Slice into some Florida sunshine” with the state’s tomatoes.
The Maitland-based Florida Tomato Committee redesigned its website to provide easier navigation for visitors and to portray the industry in a simple and clean way, said Samantha Winters, director of education and promotion.
“The focus of the redesign is to add functionality for our tomato producers and shippers and to serve as a better platform to interact with our consumer publics — consumers, retail, foodservice and the media,” she said. “We are tweaking a few minor details but I would say we are really getting there. It is a live work in progress!”
The organization’s culinary ambassador, Florida chef Justin Timineri, greets site visitors. He’s prominently featured there and has his own section that includes his latest Florida tomato recipes and photography, comments and cooking videos.
The site also has consumer and trade sections and features recipes and health and nutrition information and houses industry reports and research information.
