The Washington Apple Education Foundation elected Brian Alegria as chairman of its board of directors at the annual meeting.

Alegria has served on the board since 2007 and is the chief executive office of CPC International Apple Company, Tieton. Wash., according to a news release.

Alegria will follow past chairwoman Berti Stewart, who will continue to serve on the foundation’s executive committee.

“My goal for the coming year is to facilitate continued growth of the scholarship program while working with our board members and donors to strengthen our funding model,” Alegria said in an e-mail.

Other positions were also filled. Miles Kohl, chief executive officer of Allan Brothers, Naches, Wash., was elected to serve as vice president. Jeff Fagg, vice president/account manager for Northwest Farm Credit Services, Moses Lake, Wash., was chosen as secretary, and Stan Scheumann, controller at Auvil Fruit Co., Orondo, Wash., was voted in as treasurer.

Kailan Dunn Jr. of Banner Bank, Yakima, Wash., and David Millheisler, chief financial officer of Stemilt Growers, Inc., Wenatchee, Wash., were each elected to serve three-year terms as new board members, according to the release.

Retiring board members Roger Strand, Tim Mowry and Bruce Frazier were all honored at the meeting.
