Deerfield Beach, Fla.-based Ayco Farms teamed up with Talenta Global of Austin, Texas, to help the vertically integrated producer/importer attract top talent to its expanding operations.
Ayco’s strategy for growth benefits from the partnership, Avi Nir, chief executive officer of Ayco, said in a news release.
Ayco has growing operations in Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and the U.S. and sales offices in Deerfield Beach and McAllen, Texas.
The company is the largest vertically integrated producer of mini personalized watermelons on the U.S. East Coast, according to the release.
Talenta Global provides executive recruitment, leadership and talent consulting for a wide variety of clients, including Johnson & Johnson, NASCAR, Whole Foods and Sysco, according to the release.
Theresa Page of Talenta will head the Ayco as acting vice president of talent acquisition.
Peter Warren, tropicals manager for Ayco Farms, said Page is already working with the company and is creating profiles of employees to gauge their strengths and motivations.
“It shows you how you build a team,” he said.
Warren said Page brings a level of recruiting sophistication that is rarely seen in the produce industry.
“There are headhunters in our business, but they don’t really search out talent and benchmark people as to who is up and coming in different sectors of the business,” he said. “This metric and model is totally different.”
Ayco’s expansion in Mexico and the opening of the McAllen office has opened opportunities, Page said in the release.
