Food safety materials supplier Birko has achieved certification for its management system under the International Organization for Standards 9001 designation.

The ISO 9001 designation means the company’s products have been produced using recognized best practices in the produce industry, as well as the meat and brewery industries, said Mark Swanson, chief executive officer of the Henderson, Colo.-based Birko, in a news release.

Included under the certification are Birko’s design, development, manufacturing and delivery of general and food-grade cleaning chemicals and antimicrobial intervention products and the distribution of other related products, according to the release.

When a company or organization is reviewed for ISO 9001 certification, its ability to consistently meet customer requirements is assessed in terms of not only customer specifications, but also statutory and regulatory requirements, according to the ISO website.
