Kelly Green, owner and chairwoman of food safety company Birko, has been named to the United Fresh Government Relations Council.

Green is also the vice president of business development for Birko and is the third-generation owner. She earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Colorado. She also has an MBA from Colorado State University. Green, a past board member for the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council-West, is a member of the global network for chief executives Vistage International.

“Kelly’s insight will be invaluable to United Fresh,” said Mark Swanson, Birko’s chief executive officer. “We’re very proud of her.”

The United Fresh Government Relations Council is not only responsible for the Washington Public Policy Conference, but also programs such as the Fruit and Vegetable Snack Program, country of origin labeling, farm bill provisions, and more.
