Four Atlanta restaurants featured Bonipak lettuce in a weekend promotion during the Produce Marketing Association Fresh Summit.

Santa Maria, Calif.-based Bonipak sales staff brought clients from the trade show to Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Pitty Pat’s Porch, Pacific Rim and Azio. The restaurants temporarily renamed their popular wedge salads the Bonipak Wedge.

Table tents and buttons worn by restaurant staff promoted the item for the weekend.

“It was a cool way to show off product,” said Christine Gorney, Bonipak spokeswoman. “A lot of clients might not get to see your lettuce on a plate. This way they could see how the restaurants are serving it, instead of sitting on a shelf.”

Wedge salads typically come with blue cheese dressing. Other ingredients vary, but can include tomatoes and bacon. Bonipak supplied iceberg for the wedges, plus romaine and iceberg for other menu items.

“This was one of the first promotions we have done of this type,” Stephanie Tobben, spokeswoman for Ruth’s Chris, said in a news release. “(Bonipak) provided a superior product that was a perfect fit for our menu, making the wedge promotion a great success.”

“Trade shows are a cornerstone of Bonipak’s marketing and it’s important to figure out what we can do to leverage our attendance,” Mitch Ardantz, managing partner of Bonipak, said in the release.
