Jazmin Lopez has been hired as food safety coordinator for California Giant Berry Farms.

The new position for the Watsonville, Calif.-based company is focused on field-level education and training, according to a news release from the company.

Lopez was most recently at the California Strawberry Commission as grower education program assistant, according to the release. Lopez assists California Giant growers with training and documentation for food safety, pesticide safety, regulatory compliance and water management, according to the release.

“Jazmin has already been a valuable key asset to the company and food safety department,” Eric Valenzuela, food safety manager at California Giant, said in the release. “All the Growers and I are truly thankful to have her as part of the Cal Giant team.”

Lopez received her B.A. from Pomona College, double majoring in international relations and Spanish literature, according to the release.
