The California Strawberry Commission promoted two and hired one in a round of personnel changes this spring.

Rick Tomlinson was promoted from public policy director to vice president of public policy.

Tomlinson comes to this position with 20 years of experience in environmental policy. He will direct regional, state, federal and international public policy matters for the commission, according to a news release.

Dan Legard was promoted from research director to vice president of research and education.

Legard works on strawberry production research and grower education efforts, the release said.

Before coming to the commission, Legard led the research program for strawberry pathology at the University of Florida as associate professor of plant pathology.

Claudia Reid was hired as governmental affairs director.

Reid has more than 25 years experience in agriculture and public policy. She previously served as a legislative director with the University of California and policy director for California Certified Organic Farmers.

She is currently a member of the University of California Davis Small Farm Program External Advisory Committee and the Food and Environmental Sciences Dean’s Advisory Council.
