Global fruit shipper and marketer Capespan has named a new executive in charge of its procurement operations.

Ronan Lennon will become chief executive officer for fruit procurement Aug. 1, according to a news release from South Africa-based Capespan.

In an earlier stint with the company, Lennon headed Capespan International Ltd., one of the largest fresh produce companies in the U.K., for 12 years.

Lennon also has served as general manager of Capespan Continent. He returned to the company on a temporary basis in October.

“He’ll contribute significantly to further develop and bed down the customer-driven Capespan business model and strategy,” Johan Dique, Capespan’s managing director, said in the release. “As such, he’ll ensure buy-in, improved communication, alignment and focus between South African and international procurement, the Capespan fruit marketing entities and our global customer base.”
