Montreal-based Chenail Import/Export’s repacking and wholesale operation has been certified compliant with the CanadaGAP program.

The program signifies consistent application of high standards of hygiene, according to a news release from the company. The CanadaGAP program is a voluntary national food safety program for the fruit and vegetable supply chain, according to the release.

Developed by the Canadian Counsel of Horticulture, CanadaGAP is the first Canadian food safety program to have obtained international recognition by the Global Food Safety Initiative, according to the release.
