Duda Farm Fresh Foods Inc. won marketing awards for rolling out a product it recently discontinued.
The Oviedo, Fla.-based Duda Farm Fresh Foods, the fresh division of A. Duda & Sons Inc., won two marketing awards and was nominated for a third for its Celery Sensations line of red celery.
Duda introduced the colored celery at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit in Orlando, Fla., in October, but in early May stopped shipping it to test markets after Duda expressed disappointment in the variety’s color inconsistency.
Duda and New York-based Lewis & Neale Inc., a food marketing and public relations firm, won the 2011 Hermes Creative Award and the Award of Excellence for Corporate Marketing Campaign from the International Association of Culinary Professionals.
Duda Farm Fresh Foods and Lewis & Neale were also nominated for a 2010 Gold SABRE Award for creating the celerysensations.com microsite.
“We are so excited that the launch of the unique Celery Sensations has received these accolades, Nichole Towell, Duda’s head marketing development manager, said in the release. “These awards and subsequent nomination are a testament to our relationship with L&N, their teamwork with our other partners and their commitment to creating and executing successful public relations campaigns.”
