E.W. Brandt returns to in-house marketingWapato, Wash.-based E.W. Brandt & Sons Inc. plans to resume marketing all of its fresh fruit crops beginning with the upcoming cherry deal.

The company also has a new logo.

For the past three years, Chelan Fresh Marketing, Chelan, Wash., has marketed the company’s cherries and other stone fruit, apples and pears.

The decision to return the sales program to the family-owned grower-packer-shipper was amicable and mutual, said Joe Brandt, sales manager.

“It gives us more direct control of our fruit, and we like to be in control of our destiny,” he said.

E.W. Brandt returns to in-house marketingFruit marketing will begin with the cherry crop. Picking is scheduled to begin about June 20, Brandt said.

Following the cherry deal, Brandt & Sons will harvest its peaches and nectarines — both flat and regular varieties — and apricots and plums starting in mid-to-late July, he said, followed by apples and pears later in the year.

Brandt & Sons had retained the core of the sales staff, Brandt said, and has added two new salesmen, Bryce Withers and Ryan Moore.

Brandt & Sons markets fruit from other growers, but the company also grows all of the commodities it sells. In addition, Brandt & Sons owns and operates a nursery for rootstock and has partner nurseries in nine other countries, Brandt said.
