(UPDATED COVERAGE, April 11)  An Idaho-based grower-shipper has joined forces with a California grape company.

Visalia-based The Grape Guys will keep its name and staff but is now under the umbrella of Eagle Eye Produce Co., said Nate Klingler, Eagle Eye’s marketing director.

“The grape company will continue to operate under The Grape Guys name, only now it is partnered as an Eagle Eye Produce company,” Klingler said. “We are doing this to hold onto the brand equity that was built under The Grape Guys name and pair that brand equity with the strength of Eagle Eye Produce.”

The new Grape Guys is still headquartered in Visalia, Klingler said. The Grape Guys staff, which is led by Shaun Ricks, vice president of sales and marketing, remains unchanged.

“(This) will allow us to capitalize on areas where each of us bring different strengths and resources that will ultimately increase our total year-round supply of table grapes,” Newman Giles, Eagle Eye’s chief executive officer, said in a news release.

Adding grapes will diversify Eagle Eye’s product roster, which includes potatoes, onions, watermelons and vegetables shipped through Nogales, Ariz.

Ricks said the deal will create new synergies for The Grape Guys’ growers and customers.

“With over 70 years in the table grape industry, The Grape Guys bring a wealth of knowledge and experience that will allow us to capitalize on the ever-changing dynamics in our industry,” he said in the release.
