A recipe contest sponsored on Facebook by the California Table Grape Commission seeks to encourage consumers to change everything one grape at a time.

Dubbed “One Ingredient Can Change Everything,” the contest runs through Aug. 30 and offers a $1,000 cash grand prize, according to a news release from the Fresno, Calif.-based commission.

Celebrity chef Ellie Krieger, host of Food Network’s show “Healthy Appetite,” has agreed to judge the contest, saying that grapes are among her favorite healthy foods, according to the release.

“California grapes check all the boxes for me: nutritious, convenient, and great-tasting,” Krieger said in the release.

Consumers can submit recipes for anything from a simple snack to a main-course dish as long as California grapes are among the ingredients.

Jeff Cardinale, vice president of marketing communications for the commission, said in the release the goal is to get consumers to incorporate California grapes into snacks and meals all day.

“We hope this contest will encourage consumers to experiment with using grapes in new ways,” Cardinale said in the release. “Mixed into a smoothie, layered on a sandwich or tossed into a salad, grapes truly are the one ingredient that can change everything.”
