Leamington, Ontario-based Nature Fresh Farms expects to harvest the first tomatoes from its new greenhouse in mid-February.

About 1.5 million cartons of beefsteak tomatoes are expected to ship from the company’s new high-tech, 32-acre facility in 2012, according to a Nature Fresh news release.

The greenhouse is dedicated to tomato production.

The addition of the facility gives Nature Fresh more than 128 acres of tomato, pepper, cucumber and eggplant production.

Another 96-acre expansion is set to begin in 2012.
