First Fruits Marketing of Washington received the Spokane, Wash.-based Association of Washington Business’ award for community service in the area of education.

The association chose the Yakima, Wash.-based company to receive the award because of its support of youth education efforts around Yakima, including support of the Union Gospel Mission, Young Life and Jubilee Youth Ranch, according to a news release.

These organizations provide education training for children in poverty, students affected by drug abuse or teenage pregnancy, and students with troubled backgrounds.

The company operates under a business model that focuses on balancing people, profit, the planet and the sense of purpose for employees and the organization.

The association’s annual community service awards recognized 15 other organizations for their community service efforts and support of projects that help make Washington communities better places to live and work.
