John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc., Elgin, Ill., parent company of the Fisher Nuts brand, received a Gold Reggie Award in the packaging innovation campaign category at the Brand Activation Association awards show.

The Reggie awards recognize innovative and effective brand campaigns in 23 categories. Judges evaluated them on how brands considered target audience, creatively and effectively communicated their message and enhanced overall experience with the product through packaging.

The “Fisher Fresh Twist to Recipe Nuts” campaign, developed by Blue Chip Marketing Worldwide, Northbrook, Ill., was a fully-integrated marketing initiative, featuring in-store, broadcast, print, digital and public relations elements. The campaign also featured partnerships with Food Network and Chopped star Chef Alex Guarnaschelli.

The campaign was recognized in the newly created packaging innovation campaign category, which recognizes brands that re-designed or launched new products with innovative packaging creative, usability design, or supplemented main packaging with additional materials, said a news release.

The campaign helped Fisher Nuts achieve a significant increase in sales and distribution over a 24-month period.
