The Florida Citrus, Business & Industries Fund recently donated a $1,500 honorarium to the Florida Citrus Hall of Fame in memory of Bert Roper.

Roper died on July 4, according to a news release.

The honorarium will be used to fund a summer intern to work on preservation efforts with the Florida Citrus Archives at Florida Southern College, Lakeland.

Roper served on the citrus organization’s of trustees for more than 25 years and was inducted into the Citrus Hall of Fame in 2004, according to the release.

The Florida Citrus Hall of Fame honors leaders who have made significant contributions to the Florida citrus industry.

Nominations for next year should be made by Nov. 1 to be considered, according to the release.
