Paul Schillaci of The Fresh Market, died on June 10, at 54.

Schillaci, who previously worked at Wegmans Food Markets, died suddenly after a brief illness, according to a news release.

Schillaci worked for Wegmans for 25 years in New York as a buyer, coordinator, ripener and trainer, according to the release.

Schillaci received his bachelor’s degree at Cornell University, and he later received his master’s degree from North Carolina State University.

He retired to Wilmington, N.C., until he saw a job opening at The Fresh Market for the position of category manager of local produce.

Schillaci is survived by his wife, Sue Cannioto Schillaci: sons Steven, Mark and Daniel Schillaci; father Ross Schillaci; brother Peter Schillaci; sister Teri-An Consaul; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
