FreshXperts, a Lee’s Summit, Mo.-based consulting firm for fresh produce suppliers, will present a two-session Web seminar titled “Social Media: Strategies and Legal Liability.”
Co-hosting the seminar is the law offices of Jonathan Whitehead, also based in Lee’s Summit, said Mark Chirveno, customer facing technology specialist.
“The sessions will give folks not just the positive upside — the benefits and how to be involved, but also will educate them on the potential legal liabilities and how to mitigate them as much as possible,” he said.
The initial session at 10 a.m. CDT Oct. 5 will focus on social media strategies, he said. The second session at the same time on Oct. 6 will concentrate on legal liabilities.
Social media offer huge opportunities, Chirveno said, and protecting one’s company from legal liabilities is not difficult.
“It’s just having the organizational discipline to put policies in place and communicating the policies to staff,” he said. “Then you have a much better opportunity to protect yourself from harm.”
The deadline for registration, which is open to FreshXperts clients and non-clients, is Oct. 4 and may be completed at http://freshxperts.eventbrite.com/. The cost is $25 for either session or $40 for both sessions.
