Kingsburg, Calif.-based Giannini Farms LLC entered stone fruit season with a new name and an exclusive sales agent, Mountain View Fruit Sales Inc.

Formerly Giannini Packing Corp., the grower-shipper sold its Dinuba packing house to Exeter, Calif.-based Sun Pacific Shippers in December, spokesmen for both companies said.

“Sun Pacific got the plant and a little over 500 acres of farming land,” said Jim Burnett, chief financial officer at Giannini Farms. “It was a great offer and an opportune time to downsize. We’re still a 500-acre farming operation, which is plenty big for us, and we may acquire more land.”

“Mountain View is going to sell everything this year for us,” Burnett said. “That’s a first. We always sold our own. We were a completely self-contained operation that did it all — grow, pack, sell.”

Giannini Farms grows nectarines, plums and pomegranates in the Kingsburg area.

The Dinuba plant is not currently in production, a spokesman for Sun Pacific Shippers said.
