Tulare, Calif.-based Horizon Nut Co. LLC has tabbed Jeffrey Franklin to fill the newly created position of senior vice president of operations.
Franklin brings more than 15 years of experience to his new post, according to a news release.
He comes to Horizon Nut Co. from the Gilroy, Calif., plant of Olam California, a division of Olam International Ltd., Singapore. Olam acquired the facility last year from ConAgra Foods Inc., Omaha, Neb., and Franklin continued with the new owner.
Previously, he was general supervisor for the Nabisco subsidiary of Kraft Foods Inc., Northbrook, Ill.
“He brings a diversified management and operational background in the food processing business,” Tom Johnson, board chairman of Horizon Nut Co., said in the release. “Our board of directors and over 27 grower members look forward to working with him to solve the many challenges faced by our growing industry."
Grower-owned Horizon Nut Co. produces 35 million pounds of pistachios annually, according to the release. Meridian Nut Co., Clovis, Calif., markets the products.
