Francisco Delamora, owner of fresh produce distributor JDM Transport, was among five people killed when a single-engine plane crashed shortly after takeoff from the South Lake Tahoe, Calif., airport, according to a company source.

Joe Andrade, a dispatcher at Fresno, Calif.-based JDM Transport, confirmed the deaths of Delamora, his wife Lorena and seven-year-old daughter Esmeralda. Harold Cardwell and Kin Cardwell also died in the Aug. 25 crash, he said.

“They’re a very lovely family,” Andrade said of the Delamoras. “Frank was a businessman who helped a lot of people. His wife was always here to help with the business, whatever needed doing. Their daughter was a real bright, happy little girl. They were loved by a lot of people.”

JDM Transport distributes a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The plane was registered to Delamora.
