Jonathan’s Sprouts Inc., Rochester, Mass., hired a plant manager responsible for quality assurance who spent six years in charge of quality assurance with Whole Foods Market’s facilities.

Brian Burke has 18 years of experience in food safety and quality assurance, according to a news release, including working at Whole Foods Market’s three largest manufacturing facilities.

The release said management at Jonathan’s Sprouts has been working with the Institute for Food Safety and Health on a sprout-specific safety audit, which is in the process of a test run. U.S. sprout growers want the audit Global Food Safety Initiative-approved in the near future, and Burke would be assisting with that project.
