Bell Robinson, a longtime veteran of the Flint, Mich., produce industry, died Aug. 4. He was 92.

Robinson, a native of Bossier City, La., moved to Michigan in the 1940s to work for United Fruit Co. Later he operated a packing facility in Flint and owned Bell’s Produce.

Bell’s Produce closed in 2010 when Robinson was no longer able to work every day, said his son, Matt Robinson, who also works in the produce industry, for Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Frog Holler Ltd.

Robinson received the keys to Flint for operating a business there for more than 50 years.

Robinson is survived by five children, Mike Robinson, Mary Jo Landers, Marsha Puckett, Marilynne Robinson and Matt Robinson; a sister, Sadie Braun; and several grandchildren.
