Richard Nieuwenhuis, president of the New Jersey Farm Bureau, has been elected to a third term on the American Farm Bureau Federation board of directors.
Nieuwenhuis owns and operates Scenic Valley Greenhouses in White Township, N.J. On the board he represents New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania plus nine other states in the Northeast, according to a Jan. 17 news release.
Nieuwenhuis has led the New Jersey Farm Bureau and its 11,000-plus members since 2002. He was appointed to the State Board of Agriculture by the governor in 1994, and served as its president 1997-98. He chaired both the nominating committee and the committee to revise the New Jersey Right to Farm Act.
Beth Pool, co-owner of Sebowisha Farms, Mickleton, N.J., was also elected for a third term on the AFBF women’s leadership committee. Pool has served on the New Jersey Farm Bureau women’s committee for more than 30 years, six as state chair.
