The National Mango Board has enlisted three media registered dieticians as mango ambassadors in 2012 as part of a Nutrition Outreach Program.

The board is building on the registered dietician ambassador program that was created in 2011, according to a news release.

The media registered dieticians are Tara Gidus, Sylvia Melendez and Michelle Dudash.

The board’s dieticians have extensive media and nutrition backgrounds with appearances on network television shows, online health sites and prominent print media.

Gidus appears frequently as a medical expert on television shows, Melendez has made appearances on television programs on NBC and ABC and Dudash is a celebrity chef and “Healthy Dish” columnist for The Arizona Republic.

They will obtain mango nutrition coverage in their local markets and in national outlets, according to the release.

“With our RD team, we are able to educate even more consumers about the significant nutritional benefits that come from adding mangos into a daily diet,” Megan McKenna, the board’s director of marketing, said in the release.
