The National Mango Board, Orlando, Fla., plans to present mango extension workshops in the top six mango-importing countries.

Research and best practices from the Postharvest Best Management Practices Manual will be presented by the mango board staff as well as researchers from universities and institutions.

Workshops will be available in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Sessions will cover topics including hot-water treatment and hydro-cooling, mango maturity, irradiation in mangoes, consumer attitude and nutritional values, among others, and will vary based on the needs of specific regions.

Eight workshops are scheduled:

  • May 25-26, Chiapas, Mexico;
  • June 13, Haiti;
  • July 4-5, Peru;
  • July 19, Brazil;
  • Aug. 9-10, Colima, Mexico;
  • Aug. 30-31, Ecuador;
  • Sept. 27-28, Nayarit, Mexico; and
  • Dec. 5, Guatemala.
