Mary Ellen Peppard is the new assistant vice president of government affairs for the Trenton-based New Jersey Food Council.

Peppard has a master’s degree in public affairs and politics from Rutgers University, according to a news release.

“Mary Ellen has an impressive reputation as a seasoned and effective lobbyist in Trenton,” food council president Linda Doherty said in the release. “She previously served as assistant vice president of government relations for the state chamber of commerce.”

She has experience in advocating for pro-business issues, developing and interpreting legislation and regulations and acting as a liaison with government agencies, according to the release.
