Luis Jose Produce, Ridgefield, N.J., has been named in at least two federal court cases as owing other produce companies more than $190,000 total under the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act.

In December Morris Okun Inc, New York City, filed suit seeking $168,659 for produce delivered to Luis Jose Produce in May and June 2013. In a separate lawsuit Alliance Shippers, Middlesex, N.J., is seeking $23,330 for produce sold to Luis Jose Produce.

Red Book Credit Services reports that an outside source confirmed Luis Jose Produce had ceased operations as of Dec. 13.

A third PACA case against Luis Jose Produce in federal court resulted in an August 2013 judgment against company for $42,376 owed to Robin Bros. Produce Corp., New York City.
