Three companies — Sun Coast Farming, Sun Coast Sales and Sun Coast Texas — have taken a new name: Sun Coast Farms LLC.

A new logo and a new brand — True Grow — accompany the name change. Santa Maria, Calif.-based Sun Coast Farms grows on more than 4,000 acres in California and Arizona.

“I am consolidating three of my companies into one to allow us to take advantage of some of the synergies,” owner Sonny Smith said in a news release.

“As we expand our product base and customer base, we felt that a new logo that exemplifies our core competencies was in order,” CEO Steve Poindexter said in the release.

The True Grow brand resulted from a search for a label consumers could relate to, he said.

Sun Coast’s Texas fresh-cut program has been mainly a vegetable operation but has begun expanding fruit offerings. Fruit production is expected to rise 50%.

Ilapak Inc. packaging machinery was installed in December to support that growth.

Sun Coast is also expanding into Nogales, Ariz., vegetables and considering various fruit items to complement its programs.
