More than 600 people participated in the Produce Marketing Association’s fund-raising 5K Race for Talent in Atlanta early Oct. 14. They raised more than $110,000 for the association’s Foundation for Industry Talent.

Proceeds from the race will help develop and implement programs through the foundation, which has a goal of ensuring the future of the fresh product industry is carried forward by people with the necessary skills, said foundation executive director Margi Prueitt in a news release.

A record number of sponsors participated in the event. Sponsors and runners were honored at Olympic Park where a flash mob dance routine topped off the activities.

Top finishers in the men’s division were:

  • Peppe Bonfiglio, Atlanta, 18:23;
  • Bert Mucci, Ontario, Canada, 18:42; and
  • Rodrigo Roach, Chile, 19:46 

Top finishers in the women’s division were:

  • Eliza Voita, Calabasas, Calif., 20:54;
  • Becky Burnworth, Tampa, Fla., 21:48; and
  • Jill Lenz, Watsonville, Calif., 22:46

Special awards went to Chiquita Brands International for best team spirit, Dole for the largest team to register and Costco for the best team attire.
