Finalists for the Produce Marketing Association’s annual packaging awards have been chosen.

Twenty-five companies will compete in the 2012 Impact Awards: Excellence in Packaging, according to a news release from Newark, Del.-based PMA.

Winners will be announced Oct. 27 at PMA’s annual Fresh Summit International Convention & Exposition in Anaheim, Calif.

Finalists include:

  • NNZ Inc.;
  • Paramount Farms;
  • Pure Hot House Foods Inc.;
  • Ready Pac Foods;
  • Rock Garden;

  • Tanimura & Antle;
  • The Greenery;
  • Vortex Packaging Niagara Inc.;

Judges for the competition also have been chosen. They include:

  • Bridget Bennett, category manager/produce, Defense Commissary Agency;
  • Kip Martin, produce and floral supervisor, Raley’s Family of Fine Stores;
  • Ron McCormick, senior director of local and sustainable sourcing, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.;
  • Pamela Riemenschneider, editor of Vance Publishing’s Produce Retailer and retail editor for The Packer; and
  • Bob Whitaker, PMA chief science and technology officer.
