Expansion in Spain is helping packinghouse productivity specialist Marco grow throughout the world.
The Edenbridge, United Kingdom-based company recently completed its first product installation in the country with table grape packer SAT Moyca in Murcia, Spain.
Marco has also added new customers in France, South Africa and recently gained its first Peru customer, according to a news release.
The Peru expansion is part of a push into Latin American markets that also includes Chile and Guatemala, according to the release.
During the last year, the company experienced a 30% increase in international business, according to the release.
The expansions follow the upgrading of Marco’s software, which includes the Trac-IT Yield Control Module.
The software nearly eliminates overpack and provides various operator reports, according to the release.
“The last twelve months have been exceptionally good for Marco, resulting in us outgrowing our premises in under a year,” managing director Mandy Hart said in the release. “Spain is a major player in table grapes and tomatoes — two of the areas in which we specialize — as well as producing significant volumes of berries and salads, which can also be packed very efficiently using our systems.”
