Grower-shipper Paramount Citrus is adding a real-time temperature and location tracking system from Locus Traxx to its operation to help ensure the safety and freshness of its fruit.
The Smart Traxx Go system is expected to increase efficiency for the Delano, Calif., citrus company, according to a news release. Locus Traxx president and CEO David Benjamin said in the release that system is particularly applicable to the grove to consumer operations of Paramount.
Paramount’s transportation director Jeff Cottingham said in the release that the system will be used with all of the company’s direct delivery carriers.
“It reinforces our commitment to food safety by tracking the location and temperature of our direct delivery trucks,” Cottingham said in the release.
When Locus Traxx, Jupiter. Fla., launched the system earlier this year, Benjamin described it as the “next step for the industry.”
“The (system) is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, yet powerful enough to monitor your shipment in true real-time from inside the trailer. Just pull the battery tab, throw it in with your load, and go,” Benjamin said in a release.
