Potandon Produce’s Arizona potato deal is now in full swing.
Idaho Falls, Idaho-based Potandon has been partnering with Eloy, Ariz.-based Pinto Creek Company LLC on fresh potato production since 2002, according to a Potandon news release.
Pinto Creek’s production is centered in the Phoenix area. In 2009, the company opened a new 55,000-square-foot shed.
Harvest began in late April and should run through June, with storage product shipping through July.
After an early freeze in February in Arizona, the weather has cooperated to produce excellent quality and average to above-average yields.
Potandon’s Arizona deal bridges the gap between its Idaho and Washington seasons on Klondike Rose, Klondike Goldust and other Potandon varieties.
