Potandon kicks off Arizona spud dealPotandon Produce LLC has kicked off its Arizona potato deal.

Idaho Falls, Idaho-based Potandon is the exclusive marketer of red, yellow and specialty mini potatoes grown by Eloy, Ariz.-based Pinto Creek Cooperative Inc., according to a Potandon news release.

“The growing season in Arizona was nearly perfect this year, making the quality and yields coming out of the field outstanding, and we expect that to continue throughout the season,” Chad Reynolds, Potandon’s variety operations manager, said in the release.

Potandon will ship Pinto Creek potatoes in Green Giant and private label packs to both retail and foodservice customers.

Red and yellow spuds from Arizona should ship until about July 4. Mini reds, mini yellows and purple varieties should ship through August.

Pinto Creek has made numerous upgrades to its packing facility in the past five years, including a new storage facility and new grading and sizing equipment.

Pinto Creek, a PrimusLabs-certified company, will have full-time quality assurance personnel working throughout the season.
