A contestant from the latest season of NBC TV’s “The Biggest Loser” will be featured in a series of videos for Potandon Produce’s new online potato recipe contest.

The contestant, Moses Kinikini, will appear with chef Bryan Woolley in videos released periodically throughout the summer, according to a news release.

America’s Outdoor Recipe Contest started June 22 and aims to promote Potandon’s Klondike potatoes.

A promotional video kicking off the contest appeared on the Klondike Brands Facebook page and on YouTube. Recipe videos with healthy outdoor eating themes featuring Kinikini and Woolley are expected to follow.

The recipe videos will also be available on the Klondike Brands website, www.KlondikeBrands.com. To compete in the contest, consumers can submit a recipe and photo at the site for a grilled or Dutch oven dish made with the Klondike potato varieties Rose, Goldust, Gourmet, Fingerling or Medley. Once published recipes will be voted on by visitors.

Recipes can be submitted through Aug. 31. Voting lasts through Sept. 6.

The top vote-getter will win a family vacation to Yellowstone National Park including round-trip airfare, vehicle rental, lodging and park passes, according to the release. Second- and third-place winners will receive a Camp Chef outdoor camp oven and grill. Another 25 will get honorable mentions.

Idaho Falls, Idaho-based Potandon plans to promote the contest with e-mails, Twitter posts and a new Facebook iFrame.

“(This) is the first recipe contest where we have let consumers decide whose recipe they like best,” Barbara Keckler, consumer marketing coordinator, said in the release.

“We feel these contests give consumers a push to try new types of potatoes, then eventually become repeat buyers,” Keckler said in the release.
