Foodservice distributor Pro*Act’s sustainability and local produce initiative, Greener Fields Together, plans to sponsor exhibits at the Farm Aid concert Sept. 21.

Greener Fields Together will sponsor the Saratoga Springs, N.Y., event’s Homegrown Village and concession program. Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews are among the musicians scheduled to participate in the concert.

Homegrown Village, on the back lawn of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, is expected to showcase exhibits by more than 50 local, regional and national farming groups, according to a news release. Hands-on food and farm activities will be offered in support of the Good Food Movement. The village includes a stage for live music and a tent for presentations of agrarian and homesteading skills.

Monterey, Calif.-based Pro*Act launched Greener Fields Together last October as a field-to-fork produce sustainability initiative. Sponsorship at Farm Aid is a logical step, according to Pro*Act president Max Yeater.

“Since 1985 this terrific event has celebrated through music, education and advocacy the importance of America’s family-farm infrastructure and locally produced food,” Yeater said in the release.
