Brian Westcott is the new president and chief executive officer for Purfresh Inc., replacing David Cope who is now chairman of the company’s scientific advisory board.

The company announced the top-level changes Feb. 6 in a news release from its Fremont, Calif., headquarters.

Westcott has more than 25 years of experience in operations, strategic management and corporate development for Fortune 500 and early stage companies, according to the release.

He published case studies on technology management through the Harvard Business School and the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Fred Grauer, chairman of the board for Purfresh, said in the release that Westcott will help the company in its next growth phase, which includes rapidly increasing global demand for its services. Westcott joins the company as it is celebrating the fifth anniversary of its Purfresh Transport technology.

Westcott began his career at General Electric Inc. Most recently he worked for JDS Uniphase Inc., Inogen Inc., and AT Kearney.

He was chief executive officer and founder of Westt Inc., which was ranked the 34th fastest-growing company in America by Inc. Magazine.
