Robinson Fresh and Cub Foods are teaming up to break the Guinness World Record for Largest Fruit Display.

Robinson Fresh, Cub Foods aim for melon display recordRobinson Fresh will supply and transport four truckloads of MelonUp! Pink Ribbon watermelon to the Cub Food’s store in Maple Grove, Minn., according to a news release.

The display will be about 1,500 square feet and contain around 10,200 watermelons. The display’s total weight is estimated to be 157,000 pounds. The current record is 11,023 pounds.

Shoppers are encouraged to visit the display on July 26 to receive free samples of the watermelon, take part in a watermelon eating contest and participate in a seed-spitting contest. Shoppers will also have a chance to spin the watermelon wheel for a to win various prizes.

Fairview Clinics’ mobile mammography unit and representatives from Susan G. Komen Minnesota will be on-site speaking to consumers about breast cancer research efforts.

“We are excited for the opportunity to promote MelonUp!® Pink Ribbon watermelon, an important summer product of ours, in such a big way,” Darren Caudill, vice president of merchandising and sales for Cub Foods, said in the release. “We invite everyone to visit the store, where they can enjoy the celebration while also gaining additional education about local breast cancer awareness efforts.”
