Eden Prairie, Minn.-based Robinson Fresh has begun operating out of a new service center in Corona, Calif.
The facility has more than 187,000 square feet of warehouse space, including more than 135,000 square feet of temperature-controlled operations, according to a news release.
In addition, it features eight cold rooms with varying temperature zones, 28 dock doors, cutting-edge air purification technology and cold chain handling processes.
The service center is produce traceability initiative compliant, PrimusGFS certified and certified organic.
Robinson Fresh will provide temperature-controlled distribution services that support national and regional programs, repack, consolidation, cross-dock, forward distribution and floral.
With centralized operations, the facility will take advantage of just-in-time efficiencies for customers to address seasonal surges and capacity strains within the market.
“Strategically located operations provide a value-added service that complements our sourcing and transportation expertise and provide a single-source solution for customers who seek end-to-end supply chain services,” Ray Griffin, Robinson Fresh director of global sourcing, said in the release.
The Los Angeles-area service center — one of eight similar Robinson Fresh facilities nationwide — is close to several retail distribution centers, major U.S. shipping ports and West Coast metropolitan areas.
“We are positioned to help our customers more efficiently bring their fresh products and dry goods to market,” Griffin said in the release. “The service center provides an accommodating suite of solutions that are customized and supported by a team of supply chain experts.”
The operation will be managed by C.H. Robinson, which provides global logistics services, fresh produce sourcing and information services.
