The organization representing growers of U.S.-bound South African citrus has chosen a new leader.
The Citrusdal, South Africa- based Western Cape Citrus Producers Forum named Suhanra Conradie chief executive officer, according to a May 25 forum news release.
Conradie succeeds Joretha Geldenhuys, who had been CEO since August 2009.
With Conradie at the helm, South African citrus growers expect to increase exports to the U.S., Gerrit van der Merwe, the forum’s chairman, said in the release.
“Suhanra brings a wealth of knowledge in dealing with foreign markets, as well as expertise in all aspects of growth, distribution and supply in the fruit export industry,” van der Merwe said.
Conradie, who is based in Wellington, South Africa, worked most recently as director of marketing, finance and sales for Oceanic Fruit Exports of South Africa. Before that, she held marketing and finance jobs with other fruit exporters.
The Western Cape Citrus Producers Forum represents 350 South African growers.
