Citrus company Sun Pacific Shippers, Los Angeles, is using the HarvestMark traceability system from YottaMark Inc.
Redwood City, Calif.-based YottaMark’s system assists in Produce Traceability Initiative compliance, and Sun Pacific plans to use HarvestMark’s new automatic case identification and labeling throughout its packing facilities.
HarvestMark’s newest PTI system is designed to meet the demands of high-speed packing operations, according to a news release. It automatically recognizes box artwork, stamps and case markings to identify Global Trade Identification Numbers as boxes move through the packing line.
The HarvestMark system automatically generates labels for application, and remote technical support helps guarantee fast identification of and response to system issues, according to the release.
“We evaluated several vendors and chose HarvestMark because of their significant experience in traceability, their reputation for reliability, and the newest version of HarvestMark PTI that allows us to easily label a mixture of products, box types and configurations,” said Al Bates, Sun Pacific general manager and a member of PTI’s implementation committee, said in the release.
Shipping more than 35 million cases a year, Sun Pacific packs a range of fruit including navels, kiwifruit, table grapes and the trademarked Cuties clementines.
