The U.S. Sweet Potato Council is accepting applications for its executive secretary position.
The executive secretary is the equivalent of a chief executive officer, according to a council news release.
Charles Walker, the council’s former executive secretary, retired Feb. 10. After Walker’s departure, Jamie Earp, a partner in Earp Farms, Houlka, Miss., and president of the Vardaman-based Mississippi Sweet Potato Council, was installed as interim executive secretary.
At the time of Walker’s retirement, the council announced plans to fill the position by July 1. The council also said it would move from its Columbia, S.C., headquarters.
In the latest request for job applicants, the council wants to receive applications by Dec. 15.
The executive secretary will work on a contract basis and will not be an employee of the council.
