Peter Testa, president of Testa Produce Inc., Chicago, was one of three recipients of the Environmental Leadership Award at the annual Illinois Environmental Council Dinner.

Illinois state senators Toi Hutchinson and Suzi Schmidt were also presented with the award for their efforts in sustainability awareness in Chicago during the Sept. 21 dinner.

Testa’s recognition was in part a result of Testa Produce’s new 91,000-square-foot facility featuring a 238-foot wind turbine, extensive water management system, solar power for energy and hot water generation, energy-efficient lighting and other “green” aspects, according to a news release.

The distribution center opened in May in the Chicago Stockyards Industrial Park.
