Turbana Corp., Coral Gables, Fla., has had a busy year of promotions, many in line with the company’s Growing Smiles, Sharing Goodness movement.

In February, the company partnered with the Love With Food snack box subscription service for the South Beach Wine and Food Festival.

In June, the company worked with Weber Grills and New Jersey ShopRite stores for a grilling event to promote plantains.

The promotion supported Learning through Gardening, a program from the New Jersey Agricultural Society, which provides elementary schools with the knowledge and tools to build vegetable gardens to use as outdoor classrooms.

From July 7 to Aug. 11, the company promoted Win 25K for Your Cause, an interactive contest that gave the community a chance to create an impact by voting for their favorite charitable organizations.

“In just 36 days the campaign garnered over 36,100 total votes from the public on 85 different nominated organizations and causes,” marketing director Marion Tabard said.

The winner, KEEN New York, (Kids Enjoy Exercise Now), provides one-to-one recreational opportunities for children and young adults with developmental and physical disabilities at no cost to families or caregivers.

The fall is scheduled to be full of promotions as well.

“We will be in California for (the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit), in Quebec supporting Oasis De Montreal, in Coconut Grove, Fla., for the Pumpkin Patch Festival and Washington, D.C., for the 39th Marine Corps Marathon,” Tabard said.

There are several aspects to the Marine Corps Marathon sponsorship.

“As the longest-standing banana sponsor of the Marine Corps Marathon, Turbana is excited to once again partner with the MCM for the upcoming marathon on Oct. 26,” Tabard said.

The company plans to bring more than 30,000 bananas to this year’s race, and has worked with the city to create a composting program that will extend throughout the weekend.
