(UPDATED COVERAGE, 9:28 a.m., June 17) Auckland, New Zealand-based marketer and exporter Turners & Growers has named a new chief executive officer.

Alastair Hulbert, formerly the company’s international markets general manager, succeeds Geoff Hipkins, who left in March, according to a company news release.

“Alastair has extensive industry experience and talent, which will be very valuable in managing New Zealand’s largest vertically-integrated produce marketer,” John Anderson, Turners & Growers’ deputy chairman, said in the release. “Alastair has been involved with the produce industry for much of his life, growing up on an asparagus farm, through to the growing, packing and marketing of fresh produce both in New Zealand and offshore. This unique background enables him to bring a wide range of relevant experience to the chief executive position, across all aspects of the business.”

Before serving as international markets general manager, Hulbert spent nine years as general manager of Turner & Growers’ export subsidiary Delica Global.

Turners & Growers’ product line includes kiwifruit, apples, citrus and other fruits and vegetables. The company ships under the Enza, Jazz, Turner & Growers, Enza Gold, Enza Red and other labels.
