Stemilt Growers Inc., Wenatchee, Wash., has two employees who were honored in a local publication’s list of the area’s young standouts.
The Wenatchee Valley Business World published the 30 Under 35 Awards for the first time this year, according to a news release.
The list included Stemilt employees Erik Zavala, a 25-year-old horticulturist, and Brianna Shales, a 26-year-old communications manager.
Zavala has been with Stemilt for more than a year, according to the release, graduating from the University of Idaho in 2010. He advises the Stemilt grower base, and has taken on food safety projects to help the company with the auditing process.
“Erik is smart, organized, and highly motivated,” Jeff Heath, director of field staff, said in the release. “He has such a positive attitude, tremendous work ethic, and is passionate about helping growers produce high-quality fruit.”
Shales joined the company in 2008 after graduating from Washington State University. She oversees Stemilt’s social media program, website content, press, and she publishes a variety of materials.
“Brianna is a talented copywriter, has a strong work ethic, and demonstrates both a desire and ability to lead others,” said Roger Pepperl, Stemilt’s marketing director.
